After a very rough night where we all got very little sleep
(gee, thanks Sylas.)
we woke up to the first sunny day in over a week.
It felt so good just to see the sun and play outside.

We had our breakfast on the patio.
We had a lovely time shopping at Costco. Sylas was actually a good boy! It is amazing what an Ipod with kid songs can do.
Sylas crashed when we got home from the store. I can't tell if he loves his new dinosaur encyclopedia so much that he read himself to sleep or if it is just so boring he passed out.

As soon as he got up he was ready to go play.

He loves to pick flowers
and then abandon them for more fun things.

Today was the day I got to pick up my bike.
I have been wanting one for quite some time. It just seems natural since we have one car and Sy and I sometiems want to get out and do things. Brandon finally agreed.
I immediately hopped on Craigslist and found this within 5mins of looking.
It is wonderful and everything I could want in a bike!
Sylas really likes it, too!
(the crappy pictures are courtesy of Brandon.)
I have a little child seat that I need to put together and attach to the back and then Sy and I are ready to go!
Here I me in the dorky helmet.
I got to go for a quick spin this evening.
I have decided that there is nothing more freeing and exhilerating than riding a bicycle.
I felt like Dorothy from the wizard of Oz. Well, maybe if Dorothy was blonde and had a super cute 2 year old. Anyway, I think it was because of the cute bike and basket on the front. I can already see me carrying Kipi in it.
I wish I would have bought one long ago. I used to live less than two miles from my job. Ohhhh the fun I missed out on.
I was getting funny stares from people. Maybe it was the giant smile on my face or the fact that not many adults ride bright red bikes with cute baskets on the front.
But, no matter, there is nothing to bring down my great mood.
That bike ride was the perfect way to end a delightful day.

  2. Oh my gosh, I LOVE your bike! That basket is so cute. I'll bet Sy falls asleep when you guys go out for a ride. When Andy was Sy's age, I'd tie her little sunbonnet on her (these were the days before bike helmets), put her in her little kiddy seat, and she was so cute, we would stop traffic! What a wonderful memory! You and Sy are going to have so much fun!
