Sy and I had such a wonderful day.
We were left a notice on our door last week that our electricity would be out for 8 hours Aug. 21st. I did not want to sit inside a dark hot house all day so Sy and I hit the road.
We got off to a bit of a rough start.
The drive up coffee place was closed and I had to settle for burnt, gross, ooky Burger King coffee and Sy whined most of the morning car ride but, once we hit Honolulu he and I were both in better moods!
We started with the aquarium. It is pitifully small but, for me, it is always enjoyable because Sy has so much fun. The older he gets the more fun it is.
This time he was mesmerized and running from case to case.

Sy was trying to catch that little fish hiding in the corner. I think he succeeded and his photo turned out great.

After the aquarium Sylas told me in no uncertain terms that he was hungry. Starving! Ravenous!
I had wanted to eat at P.F. Changs since I so rarely am downtown and get to but they're not open at 9:45am.  While driving along, mostly lost, I pass this adorable whole in the wall bistro.
The Creme Pot.

Can we say super cute??!
It took me several rounds on the one way streets and some maneuvering but I finally found the parking and was able to get us inside.
The inside was decorated so adorably and everyone was so friendly.
Sy and I were seated at the long communal table between two sets of Japanese tourists.
My son was such a gentleman the whole time.
Despite being so hungry he sat and talked with me, played I SPY, and just looked around.
I was so proud of him!

Sy's fresh squeezed strawberry lemonade.

The service was a bit slow but the food was delicious and decadent. Dark chocolate and strawberries wrapped in a crepe? Yes, please!
Sylas cleaned his plate! Banana crepes with a salted caramel sauce. Seriously, the kid was in heaven. I need to take him fine dining more often!
After eating - sugar rush!

After our brunch we headed out again. I had intended to take him to a free children's day at the Sea Life Park but he fell asleep in the car.
No problem for me! I parked at a beach side and pulled out my knitting.
Nothing like relaxing to the sound of waves and knitting needles.
When he woke up and saw we were at a beach he begged to go play.
We spent the afternoon at the wonderful rocky spot.
We really had so much fun here.
When my mom was visiting we had accidentally stumbled upon this place while looking for a bathroom. I can already tell that it will be a favorite spot to return to.
Rock castles, sea turtle watching, wave jumping, and crab spotting.
So much to do!

can you spy the little camouflaged crab?

He loved the little hermit crab he found and was very sad to say goodbye to his "friend".
